Frequently Asked Laminate Questions
Why should I choose laminate flooring?
Laminate flooring matches the beauty and richness of wood or stone flooring, but at a fraction of the cost. It is easy to clean as it does not have the grooves and grout lines that tile flooring has. Laminate can also be installed on all type of subfloors. e.g. over concrete, wood or existing flooring. Click here to view our Click here to view our wide range of laminate flooring.
How do I care for my laminate flooring?
Laminate flooring is often chosen due to their simple elegance, variety of colours and their strong resistance to wear and tear. Below are a few simple guidelines, to ensure you get the most out of your laminate flooring: To avoid grit and dirt becoming trapped between the planks, place mats to the entrances of your house and/or internal doors, especially if you wear shoes in the house or have pets. To prevent scratching, avoid wearing high heels in your home and fit your furniture feet with protective pads. To avoid high humidity levels and to increase the durability of your laminate flooring, use a de-humidifier in the summer months. If you spill liquids on your laminate floor, ensure it is immediately cleared up. Do not allow them to settle or soak through the floors. How do I clean my laminate flooring?
To remove dirt and dust, simply vacuum and sweep as normal. Then clean the floor with a damp (not wet) cloth or mop and dry with a dry mop or pad. The best mop for laminate flooring is a microfibre mop. Alternatively, use a homemade solution of white vinegar and water. Use four parts of vinegar for each part of water. Spray the solution direct on to your laminate flooring, prior to mopping. Use sparingly to avoid the liquid soaking into the boards.
Avoid using abrasive chemicals when cleaning laminate. If you want to use something other than a damp cloth or mop, buy specifically formulated products or consult with an expert.
